Good grief whatever next. in this world of recognition it was only a matter of time before the finance industry cooked up a selection of self congratulatory awards.
Alliance and Leicester were awarded the “Best Current Account Provider” award in 2006 for their common or garden bank account thereby proving the A&L advertising campaign statement that the Alliance and Leicester really does attract the “smarter investor” whereas Smile stake claim to an award winning online current account .
Even more bewildering is perhaps the most obscure Finance Award yet – Top Banana Award for Provision of Caravan Finance - credit and loans for those who roam.
And to cap it all those corner cutting credit cards from Mint walked away with the Plastic Fantastic Award for Most Gimmicky Credit Card in both 2006 and 2007. Their nifty corner clipped credit card has been around for several years and I for one expect a special edition with all for corners removed so it can double as a mini frisbe – imagine skimming it across the shop counters and the satisfaction of watching it hover before slipping into the PIN Machine..
Any how – feet back on the ground I am truely pleased to see the Banking and Finance Institutions spending their profits slapping each other on their backs with these highly prestigious awards.
Let’s hope there will be many more of these awards announced as the year progresses – if there’s one thing we all need right now its more information about top banks and credit card deals.
Now some fellow Englishmen might accuse me of being a traitor but I do love a lovely cup of freshly brewed coffee to jump start me in the morning.

Then I found the stove top 3 chamber espresso makers which delivered a potent brew however I had a few near misses with the top heavy boiling coffee pots.
Now I’m an internet celebrity I feel its only right to treat myself to the Creme de la Creme of Coffee makers.
Crikey and internet search reveals there are simple heaps of brands and models to choose from.
I found a visit to the Coffee Machine Guide well worth while. it clearly explained the different types of coffee – what is espresso and cappuccino, how the machines work, hints about things to consider before choosing a coffee machine and a selection of recommended online shops to buy from.
